Chapter 1A Chapter by LeticiaAs Alina faded away into the crowd Sabro asked, “When is she going to awaken? I thought it was impossible for her since her mother bind her powers.”As the car crossed the finish line and its purring engine came to a stop, the crowd started to gather around blocking the driver’s way. A five foot eight in man in his early 30’s made his way to passenger door. His dark tone chocolate skin and bald head is illuminated by the street lights. When he reached the door it opened reveling a young woman in her 20’s.She had black hair that was pulled up into a messy bun at the back of her head with a few stragglers framing her face. Her eyes were light brown with flakes of green. It was noticeable that she kept herself fit by doing some kind of work out. The man looked down into the woman’s face and smiled, “You did good Alina,” He said putting his arm around her shoulder. “Thanks Sabro, I told you it would be a piece of cake.” Alina said smiling up at him. From the excitement of the win the spectators had forgotten about the second driver. He had pulled in, turned off his engine and stood next to his car observing the celebration waiting for the moment to introduce himself. Sabro looked up from Alina who was standing next to him and locked eyes with the man standing by the car. “Alina, come with me. I want to introduce you to and old friend of mine.” Sabro said moving with determination toward the stranger but still walking protectively in front of Alina as they made their way. “Hello Luis, what brings you around here?” Sabro asked as he finish getting near him. “Nothing much, just looking around trying to get a feel for things. You know me always on the lookout for trouble.” Luis said power radiating from his body. Luis is a guardian in charge of protecting an ancient power that some would use to take over the world and leave cause and death in their path. “Do you see any heading our way?” Sabro asked as he kept his frame relax. The only way you would be able to tell that there was anything wrong would be to look into his eyes. He could manipulate the rest of his body but not his eyes they always gave him away. “You have no idea.” Luis said putting a hand on Sabro’s shoulder. Alina cleared her troth to get the attention of the two man that appeared to have forgotten she was there. “Sorry, Alina.” Sabro said, “Luis this is Alina Luna.” Alina extended her hand toward Luis expecting him to shake it right away. “Come on I don’t bit.” She said motioning for him to take her hand. He was cautious to take her hand at first because he didn’t want to get all of Alina’s memories all at once. Luis is an empath which to him has always been a curse, while other would believe it to be a blessing. He is not able to block most of the emotions and images he gets from people around him especially those that are powerful. Since Alina’s powers had been repressed there was no way to know how his energy would react to the touch of her raw power. Luis put his hand in hers and nothing happened. He was shock for a few minutes since it was the first time that somebody had been a total blank to him, there had never been anybody that he could not read. “Hi Luis Melenza at your service” He said smiling at her. “It was nice to meet you, but I have to go Brenda is waiting for me.” Alina said as she started to make her way back to her car. “Be careful and don’t let her get you into trouble.” Sabro said watching her go. “Don’t worry so much, we never go out looking for it.” Alina said turning around to speak to him and gave him one of her innocent smiles as she walk away. As Alina faded away into the crowd Sabro asked, “When is she going to awaken? I thought it was going to be impossible for her since her mother bind her powers.” “That was what I believed as well, but then again, I also believed that they were truly dead until you called me” Luis said moving his gaze away from the crowd and up to the sky. It was clear night and the moon and stars shone brightly in the sky overflowing with tranquility and peacefulness. Nothing compared to what had gone on three years ago. “That was a terrible day. I would have given them all up for dead if it wasn’t for the fact that she turned up 4 days later looking lost but with bravery to spare.” Sabro said remembering that day clearly. ***** Sabro had been organizing one of the races for the night when this girl that looked lost. Out of place with her hair all tumbled, torn and dirty cloths appeared at the death of night. She looked like she had been living in the street for months. But when she saw one of my cars her personality changed. A sparkle came in her eyes as well as determination that she lacked when she had arrived. Everybody that was there that night took notice, a soon as she saw the car something came over her and the energy around her changed. Her powers coming out screaming for respect and acknowledgment. Brenda a beautiful Fay with short blond hair and sparkling green eyes went over to young woman and extended her hand, “Hi, my name is Brenda, what’s yours?” Brenda said not able to help herself. This young woman that had a great resemblance to their dead friend. Alina took her hand and gave her a smile, her eyes clearing, “Hi, I am Alina.” She said letting go of her hand and turned back to the car that had capture her attention. Sabro was in shock when he first saw her talked with Brenda and looking over the car. He knew that he had to speak to her to know if it was actually Alina one of his dear friends. Sabro made his way toward them. By this point everybody else had gone back to what they originally were doing. The only difference was that they were keeping an eye on her. “Hey Brenda, who is your friend?” He asked as he stopped at Brenda’s right side. “Sabro, this is my new friend Alina.” Brenda said putting her hand around Alina. Brenda is one of Sabro’s oldest friend’s and he had talked to her about the Luna’s when they had first come to him for help. Ricardo, Alina’s father had gone to Sabro some years ago when he notice that Alina liked cars. He had asked Sabro to instruct her and teach her as much as he could but still keeping her safe. Nobody else besides the family, Sabro and Brenda knew that, Alina, the oldest daughter of the Luna’s was into cars. Her father had wanted her to have a safe place to be herself and release some of the stress that life carry with it. So when Brenda said new friend Sabro knew there was something wrong. Brenda and Alina had met before this and in true they were friends. Four days ago when Sabro had told Brenda that Alina was dead she had cried the whole day and had been sad and depressed until know. Sabro hoped that whatever was causing Alina’s memories lost was just temporary. “I am Sabro.” He said putting his hand out to her to shake. For a minute he thought he saw recognition cross her eyes but she just smiled. “Nice to meet you. Is this your car?” Alina asked turning back to the black beauty next to her. Alina had named the car so, because she said it was beautiful as its black shimmer combined with the street lights and how it delivered death to all its opponents that didn’t see her coming up from behind them at the dead of night. “No, it belong to a good friend that passed away recently.” “What happened to her?” She asked turning back from the car. She looked into Sabro’s and Brenda’s broken down faces, “Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.” She said looking down at her hands. “No is not that it’s that you just said her, what made think it’s a girl and not a guy?” Sabro asked hoping that Alina was recovering. Alina got a thoughtful look in her eyes, “I don’t know?” Confusion and agitation clearly forming in her face. “It’s okay don’t worry about it.” Brenda said patting her shoulder and giving her a smile. Alina smiled back coming down. “She was attacked along with her family.” Sabro said hopping that it would bring something back, but there was nothing just sadness in her eyes from what he was telling her. “I am sorry, but why would they do that to her.” Alina asked looking back at black beauty. “Her family is…I mean was now for having courageous and strong vampires, witches and halflings in the family. Making them a powerful family in our community.” Sabro said hoping that the mention of the supernatural creature in the world would get a reaction out of her. “So what are you going to do with her car?” Alina asked not even blinking at the mention of the supernatural creature in the world. “I don’t know yet, but as I see you eyeing it. I will make you a deal, I will organize a race for you if you win you get to keep the car.” Sabro said giving her a smile. “Are you serious?” Sabro nodded his head. “Man if I was this chick I would come back just to kick your as for giving my car away to a complete stranger like this.” Alina said rubbing the side of the car. “Aren’t you a little bit cocky, you haven’t even won the race yet?” Sabro said with laughter in his voice for the first time in four days. “I will” Alina said a smile braking on her face. ***** “It’s a good thing she made it back to us” Luis said bringing Sabro back from his memories. “Yeah, but it would of been better if we would of known what happened to her sisters as well.” Sabro said looking back at Luis. Luis looked over at him and gave him a smile, “I have a feeling that we will soon have news about the rest of them. After all they are the descendants of not just one but two powerful ancient bloodlines.” “That my friend is true. I just hope that Alina’s past doesn’t end up braking her. I am worried that whatever happened in those four days that we believed she was dead will end up braking her spirit.” Sabro said whenever he remember how she looked when she had found him. He wanted to punch those that had treated her so badly. Luis knew that there would be more than just Sabro that would want to get even when the truth became known. “I will see you tomorrow, take care of them.” Luis said patting Sabro’s shoulder and turning toward his door. “Luis, when aren’t you working on something? You need to take a vacation, since I have known you, you have never taken one.” Sabro said moving away from Luis’s car. “There will be time later, but for now there are too many things to get done.” Luis waved one last time and got into his car, making his way toward his next destination. Sabro watched him leave, once the car wasn’t visible anymore he made his way toward Brenda and Alina where they were already causing a trouble. © 2013 LeticiaAuthor's Note
