Chapter 21 Talith

We all sit leaning against the wall, staring at the doors that all looked the exact same.

"So how will we choose? Eeny Meeny Miny Mo?" Rachel asks. Aanya and I chuckle, shaking our heads.

"Try it," I urge. She then goes and counts them, including the one next to us, and finally ends on the one across from us all the way across the room.

"Not that one," Aanya says.

"Why?" Rachel questions.

"I have a bad feeling about it," she answers. I nod in agreement and she nudges Rachel telling her that she had an ally.

"Then how will we choose?" Rachel asks again.

"Aanya?" I ask.

"That one," she announces and points to the one that was to our left.

"Why that one?" Rachel enquires.

"It has a faint glow around it and I really think that's the one," she explains. Rachel shrugs and the two girls stand up, walking to the door. They then stand side by side evaluating it.

I sit against the wall and allow my power to just come.

Rachel is fifteen, got her power on my birthday, loves to surf, is kind and sweet, and loves to get to know everyone.

Aanya's more farther away, is shy and tends to be on the outside of things, likes to be with only one friend, she's fifteen and also got her powers on my birthday.

Both were total opposites but I knew they'd be best friends. They're very compatible.

"I still think that one," Rachel whispers. Anaya's about to say something when I freeze.

The door Rachel had pointed out suddenly gets pushed back and is swallowed by the wall. I state at it but the girls seem to not notice it.

"Um guys," I murmur. I scoot away from the door next to me and the two look at me weirdly.

"The doors gone," I say and point to where it once was. They turn when they roll their eyes at me. I look at them weird then look to where I was pointing.

It was there again.

"Tailith, you’re imagining things," Rachel accuses.

"No I'm serious," I say and quickly stand up, running to them.

"You probably still have your head hurting too much," Aanya suggests.

"Yeah," I mutter and trail off.

"So is this the door?" Rachel asks. I don't answer and stare at the doors when she snaps right in front of me. I jump and leap back.

"Did you just?" I begin.

"I did," she says smugly. I freeze then leap at her. We fall back and she lands, shocked.

"Oh it's on Tailith," Rachel taunts and leaps at me.

"Talith!" I cry and I pin her. She pushes me off with surprising strength and turns invisible. I wait patiently when I knew she was right behind me.

I trip her and leap at her again, pinning her once more.

"No fair!" she exclaims and tries to through me off. I had her pinned correctly though; my knees on her legs and her wrist and head pinned by my hand and elbow with her other wrist pinned firmly by my other hand.

"Guys," Aanya says and leans over laughing.

"I win," I say, my voice filled with sweet victory. Rachel tries to throw me off, get one hand away, sit up, anything but nothing works.

"You win," she confesses and I laugh as I stand up. I offer a hand and she takes it, allowing me to hoist her up.

"Well never challenge Talith to anything," she claims.

"Or snap at me for attention," I add. Aanya smiles widely and I give her a questioning look.

"Is that what it's like to have a brother?" she asks.

"I honestly have no clue," I answer and glance at where the door that disappeared was. I then silently turn Aanya toward it and she freezes.

The door was gone.

"Alright, I believe you," Rachel says and stands next to us.

"I don't like this room," I murmur and walk toward the door Aanya choose.

I knew it was the right door. I have no clue where it lead or anything but I knew we had to go through this one.

"Are you sure?" Rachel asks cautiously.

"Yes," Aanya and I proclaim. We all then stand in front of the door and look at it closely.

It had weird symbols over it but my power didn't help with letting me know what they said. They seemed like an invented language; only someone who had wrote them would be able to know what they meant. Though one looked sort of like an L. We didn't know where we were going though. It could be in the heart of a volcano, who knew.

"Are you sure we should do this?" Rachel mutters and turns to the other doors still there. She freezes and I turn too to see what she had seen and I quickly nod.

"Time to go," I announce, seeing the wall across from us start to move inward, straight toward us. Aanya then links arms with Rachel and they stare at the door. I stand next to them when Rachel offers her arm.

"Come on Tailith," she teases. I roll my eyes but link my arm without a word. Aanya then slowly reaches toward the handle, putting anticipation on all of us.

She then closes her eyes and touches the handle.

Nothing happens and she glances back as the wall closes in. Rachel then falls forward as Aanya shoves the door open thinking it would lock.

I see daylight as we fall through the open door, our arms still linked as we go through together. We fall onto soft earth, the ground feeling natural and perfect. I wanted to lay there all day as a breeze races past us. I feel the brilliant sun shine on us and the sweet smell of a forest greet us. It felt just like home.

I look over at the closed door when it shiners, fading and fading till it was like mist. I reach over and try to touch it before it was gone. But my hand passes straight through it was it fades all the way into sunlight.

No way to turn back.
