The Road to Insanity

The Road to Insanity

A Poem by Eve
"

There are some things a person can't get out of their head.

"
I warned you to be careful
I told you a change was needed
You pretended to listen
You told me everything was okay
I believed you
So we laughed and played games
While he hid in his room
Wishing for anything to numb his pain
You said he wasn't feeling well
While you were ignoring him
And I wasn't around
He found a sheet
In that barn you sent him to
And he made a noose
If it weren't for his weight
And his poor knotting skills
Your son would be dead
But you won't listen to him
You refuse to be wrong
He begs you for help
You tell him it's just teenage angst
So why did you tell him to keep quiet?
Why did he tell me in that same damn barn?
Maybe it's because it's not allowed
For something to be wrong

Emotionally driven and powerful message. Sometimes we brush away what is right in front of us. Too dense and afraid to deal with the pain laid at our feet. Very thought provoking.
