Daily Life of a Teenager

When adults say it's hard, they're not kidding.

I hate looking in the mirror

Because I hate what I see

I hate how I dress

I hate how I cover my face with makeup

But I also love it

I love fitting in

I love feeling like just another teenage girl

And I hate that feeling

I hate wanting it

But I still do it

I gossip, and I giggle

I even whisper and snicker

I laugh at things that don't matter

And I pretend I hate people I don't even know

Because that's what girls do

So that's what I do

I sit on my phone and waste time

I text about the latest news

I even trash the people we pretend to like

That's what we do

But it's not what I want to do

I want to use my free time to write

I want to text about my latest news

And I want to hang out with the people I trash, because I really do like them

But that's not what we do

This touches on a reality of life beyond the mere growing years. People set "patterns" of behaviors early and live them all their lives. And comes the time you NEED real people near you - its lonely as hell.

This is so sad to me, just doing things to fit into society and being a teenager in general. Simply because that is what others do. Break free from the chains that hold you. And be you for you. And you will be so much happier inside and out. Simply because you are doing what you want. And not feeling forced to follow the stupid trends of others your age. Grow and be independent and be you. For who you are. You will feel better in the end. Still, mix and see friends. But no bullshit. Be you. Give it a go. And if they do not like it. They, not your true friends. They just empty shells. Needing to be filled with a real life and hope. Like you desire and want and need. With your writing, And mix with the ones you do like.
