Roadside Paintings

A Poem by Marc

Do I snore, you ask
I don't know, I answer
As I'm not awake when I'm asleep
But I'm often asleep when I'm awake
Except lately
As you woke me up
Now I hear the birds
I can smell the flowers
And feel the wind
Of the cool morning air
Refreshingly brush across my face
As I recall our conversations
Reliving the words you say
And that I've longed to hear
For so many years
But did not know it
What I do know
When I sleep
Is smile
And there is nothing more comforting
Than a smile
