Them

Them

A Poem by Leslie
"

A short poem about how the actions of others ("them") influence what we do, juxtaposing a life of fame with a life of rejection.

"

You'll strike a pose

because it makes them look.

You'll sing a bar

because it makes them smile.

You'll run from the camera

because it makes them want you.

I'll doubt myself

because they're not looking.

I'll wake up screaming

because I see them smile.

I'll sit in front of the camera

because they still don't want me

Well, the first stanza is ideally about those 'glamorous' people at the forefront of everything, and the second part is a different person entirely who feels like they have been essentially ignored.
