the displacement of what matters

the displacement of what matters

A Poem by georgia

the encroaching waves tell the same story endlessly
relentless tales of heartbreak and sorrow
or joy
but mainly just a grinding sameness

the shimmering sand was once great boulders on the shore
the water wore it down to tiny grains
that, nonetheless, can bring a man down to his knees

where is the oyster?  the pearl?
where is the reward for bearing up?
who among us wants to polish stones?
