High Blues

High Blues

A Poem by Lepadah

Summertime Blues/

Whew/

Today/

Yesterday/

Like any other day/

Is just full of flowered thoughts/

I bought on the corner of 116th street/

Long time ago/

Letting go/

The monkey man on the back/

Clouded by my own interpretation of how life should be/

Sitting w/the Blues strumming me into afternoon naps/

Head nodding jazz plays continuously/

Even my walk is full of moody blue sashays/

Who figure this black woman is the rhythm of grim guitars/

Parlay through a hot Harlem subway/

Catching the night train hoping to drown my blues/

They lay lazy/

Floating lithium highs/

Heroin satisfied/

Dipped into blueberries/

Slowly I languish the fiend/

Ginsberg trips/

Hippie child/

I always said I would rather be high/

Then come down facing reality/

So summertime Blues/

Today/

Yesterday/

Like any other day/

Is a blue day/

Wow, this is definitely going on my favorites list. You have that style I long to somehow find..sultry and jazzy all at once...you fit right in alongside Ginsberg, baby. This whole piece just blew me away. It's flow is undeniable, and the begining and ending ties everything together in such a flawless fashion. Thank you for sharing!!!!!
