Harlem (New York)

A Poem by Lepadah
"

Gentrification

"
Giving up black/

They want to revamp u/

w/their misrepresentation/

Make u into a proper w***e/

They want to change yr color/

And make u white/

They want to change the street names/

Erase Malcolm X & change to Bush Boulevard/

Pigeon hole us into believing this is our dream/

Restraining the memory of Emmett Till/

Battling Baldwin/

Challenging Cullen/

Accusing Mumia/

Spitting on Amiri for his "America"/

Don't let them stifle u/

Through the auspices of political trickery/

We can't tie up the past until we unlock the future/

Good Morning Lepadah,

Lost for words...

What an impact this write has...

So much jammed into so little...

Wonderful write...

What an outstanding revelation at the end...

Thanks
