They don't see me

They don't see me

A Poem by SporadicMessanger
"

Poem about those who aren't who they seem. Please, please, please review!

"

They walk and laugh

They push their way past

But they don’t see me

They acknowledge my existence

I let them without resistance

But they don’t see me

I hide myself inside a shell

Say I’m doing perfectly well

And they don’t see me

They only know the front I put up

They know that part of me and for them that’s enough

So they don’t see me

But here I am

For some, no for most people any kind of front, any kind of mask is enough - they just want to say 'Hi' and then get on with their own lives so they could care less about a mask.
For others (not the nosey parkers) there's a genuine desire to know you, the actual you.
They instinctively know that they are being offered a front and it doesn't sit well with them. Among that subset of humanity there are of course do-gooders who are in it for their own ends but then in a tiny sliver of a Venn diagram there are those people who really care.
It can take a lifetime to get to sort out who has what agenda.
This is such a cry from the essence. Very affecting write.

Short, honest, and relatable. I like it, but I still cant see you. Make yourself known. Put pieces of you in the poems
