Is this poem about a second marriage to a new wife, or is about the 'second chance' an already married couple gets to save their marriage? Because this poem was difficult to navigate in that understanding- to internalize correctly. Sure, from the title alone, one would think it is about a completely new marriage with another- but from the words inside, it somehow says, "you still, and no other." This was a very interesting poem, with a peak of perspective in its few words that spoke a thousand volumes. But please, tell us, dear sir, the meaning, the former, or the latter? I wonder....

In many ways, I wish it was about my first marriage - we wasted so much love trying to change one another - In my relationship with my second wife, I have realised from past mistakes that my time is better spent in learning to accept ALL that comes with the woman I love whilst focusing a bit more on being a better husband and friend.

It's too bad your second wife will receive the love you didn't give your first wife. There is an old couple, a photo of them holding hands. He's kissing her on the cheek, and when asked how they managed to stay married for 35 years plus, and still going strong, the woman replied, "we come from a time where, if something was broken, you fixed it. You just didn't throw it away." Ah...now I know...not to waste any more of my time. I never tried to change who I know is my ex husband now. I always loved him exactly as he is. Was. Thank you.
