Memorial Day

Memorial Day

A Poem by Leona Lee

One time warrior from bygone age
Sits alone in shades of beige

Proud flag of red white and blues
Waves lower with holes in your shoes

Woke the dragon yesterday
Familiar country seems far away

Where is honors glorious praise
Dying increments of future days

Better to leave in blinding rage
Than endless wait in dusty cave
