the map is not the territory

the map is not the territory

A Poem by Jason Buskey

a mother holds her childs hand

(as if in imitation

of the sea and shore beside them)

and says softly to him,

"see this is a boardwalk, its made of boards"

it seems to me that this is some sort of

unconscious revenge

to steal from the child

that which a man walking by

flipping the pages of a book

has already long forgotten
