Fireflies

Fireflies

A Poem by lenamari

Waves crash like hands,
they reach up for something
that they can never truly grab.

And the fire flies,
they loose their sparks.
Nothing can change the burns
they've marked on me.

the soldiers groan,
as they fall nameless,
alone.

And i like it most when it rains,
the silent world is mine to hold.

in this violet night,
i lost myself again,
to the creatures in the dark,
the ghosts in my heart.

and this world,
green and blue,
will never be anything to you.

The idea of soldiers falling was very random, or it felt very random first read, but it gave a 'greater' feeling to the poem, it helped it feel global, rather than localized, as if someone detatched and all knowing was describing with each breath what they could see.

Then there's the personal layer, which you can pick apart how you want as a reader, gives something to be interpreted, which is always nice to have to play with.

Interesting read, and some nice images, really good.

very intreuging. i like it but i'm not sure why. somehow it flows but it could flow more. the meaning of the poem could be clearer but it is quite good.
