HillsA Poem by lenamari
And the spring time winds,
Covered the hills with lonely mist. But the warmth of the grass kept Me running for you. Was it time or the creatures That kept me probing through The dark? With every inch, your beauty Littered my doubt. And the rolling hills, in my mind, I run them all the time. But nothing stops the rose buds in my lungs, From breathing in gold. We’ll be rushed and parted one day My dear, and the tide will pull us in again, And creatures inside of us will rest once more, So let them run away, into the clouds we made. And our skeletons will bend and break with age, but death never did us part. And the pain that set me off from the lakes I once loved Was the same pain that made me make the hills that you love. And if all wars were fought with paper swords, The world, the world, would be a happier place. But if you open the door to me, Remember darkness can take you in, And the time would be dreary, if you let them win. So please walk the meadows, in my heart. And swim the lakes, in my lungs. And fly the skies, in my mind. And always, run the hills I built for you. © 2010 lenamari |
