Friends

I was feeling slightly sentimental, and I wanted to know what people thought of it :P

FRIENDS

When you're sitting, all alone,

On the soft and mushy loam,

In the yard in front of school,

Sick and tired of the rules,

A friend will come,

And with a hum,

He'll lend a hand,

And help you stand.

He'll pull you from the darkness,

From that obscenely large abyss,

Out into the blessed light,

And you with him shall have no fight.

Your nature will improve in crawls,

Your laughter ringing through the halls.

Your grades go up, your temper down -

And soon you are the funniest clown.

But yet you will bemoan your fate,

As time draws close to graduate.

You'll walk quite sadly through the halls,

Your fingers trailing along the walls.

But most of all, you'll miss your friend,

Who'll go away at the very end.

So long ago, he told you "Hi."

And now it's time to say "Goodbye."

You'll really do your best to try.

But in your mind and in your head,

You'd not grow up - you'd rather be dead.
