I live in a world...

I live in a world...

A Poem by Lemontine
"

a discription of the world we all live in

"

I live in a world...

Where children spend their days playing on the lawn,

dogs chase their tails,

and cats chase toy mice.

Where teenagers tap out messages onto mindless screens,

hoping to get a laugh,

from someone they can't see.

And adults go to jobs,

where they teach, market, or learn anything possible,

and are constantly striving to better themselves.

A world that will always last forever.

I live in a world of comfort.

I live in a world...

Where children are hurt by the ones they trust,

dogs are abondened on the roadside,

and cats scavenge for their meals.

Where teenagers hide their faces in school hallways,

afraid of the laughes and jokes,

that follow their every mistake.

And adults starve on the streets,

or hide in their homes from the hate,

directed at aspects of themselves they can't change.

A world that's end is always just around the corner.

I live in a world of fear.

I live in a world...

Where neglected children can be adopted from almost anywhere,

dogs and cats are taken into humane shelters,

or new homes.

Where teenagers can get involved in groups,

that help them find who they truly are,

and build lasting friendships.

Adults voulenteer,

to help those less fortunate,

or who have been prosicuted for nothing.

A world that realizes it's still just beginning.

I live in a world of hope.

I like the wording. It was truthful about all the good in the word and it was uplifting. I could picture every word.

I disagree! This IS a good poem. It has good imagery, a wonderful underlining message and emotion put in there from the writer. A good work and it was a joy to read. Please keep writing.

Such wonderful transformations that occur with each stanza, as you land upon the surface of society and fall into the trap of its lies, a stereotypical regime forced upon us, then delving beneath the surface into the murky depths a truth rises and bubbles of despair threaten to submerge forever, until finally acceptance blooms and with it the blossoming and nurturing seed of a hope, dwindling in the distance of our self-destruction, to grow into the tree our children can dance under happy and safe, holding on to that wonderful joy.

Your first is amazing if you ask me! If your not, and simply saying "it's not very good" to mean you can do better and have better, then by all means lets us have it! Because this is, for me, really good!

what an interesting poem. It says a lot about the person you may be, someone who is always thinking about tomorrow, what the day may bring. I love the details you put into the description, lots of imagery is present as well. Good input on what you think it the world is like, and it's well thought out. Truly a great poem and very true too....the world is such a sad place, but fulfilling and hopeful.....as all new life is. I really like this piece and it is magnificent. Well Done job, indeed.

I love it - it explores 3 angles of life we are all living, it highlights how lucky we are, how hard it can be and that it can all turn around in the briefest moment. Keep writing
