The Debtless Night

The Debtless Night

A Poem by Danielle
"

This is one of those poems that shows up at 3 in the morning.

         The Debtless Night

(or, What to do After it Rains)

Mercy walks on two feet

smiles softly

and rests its cheek against

the windowpane

leaving a fog of its warm breath

against cold glass

while outside

the air has just been washed

and in the bright night

it’s almost blinding

and you do nothing.

A very nice poem, indeed! Sometimes the best ones are the ones that show up ridiculously early. ;) I thought the imagery here was very well done, and I especially liked the line about the air having just been washed.

i really like it! I think it's coherent, as far as poems go ;)
I'd like to see more of your stuff.
I love pieces of writing that just come to you in the early morning. :)
