The Things You Said

The Things You Said

A Poem by Leizel Feolino
"

People say things at certain times, and this time I actually believed in them.

"
I remember the words that you once said,
the promises,
the future plans
all echoing through my head
But how could you make me believe in your words,
if you weren't going to stay?
People say that distance makes the heart grow fonder,
you told me that this was going to make us stronger
For once, I believed in someone's words
as I waited for your return
I am welcomed with you,
but only taking back the things that you have said.

I feel like I was fooled. Now I'm just trying to pick myself back up.
