Memoriam By Leighanne Colfield
A
twirl, a spin, a dance in the night A
dizzying swirl of leaves and bright lights A
black vehicle, a black tree, dark as night Hugs
the wheels and doors oh so tight
A
boy, a girl, in love with the stars Nature
awakens them and leaves them many scars An
angel, to save them, comes forth in the night To
call the saviors of light
Two
mothers, two fathers, one family together A
phone call, sickening, like no other A
rescue, a life, saved from the depths Of
death’s sweet kiss, not yet pressed
A
sister, a friend, the small one, and life Mourn
the macabre possibility of death But
true love’s kiss, not death’s will save For
their hearts stay beating, alive and brave
In
memoriam we could have said, In
memoriam as goodbye In
remembrance of Me, but not tonight
We
will plead out we love you And
we want you home safe It’s
sad how many others will be held in God’s grace
But
we will not say it No,
not tonight For
our in memoriam Is
still alive © 2014 Leighanne Colfield |
