The Bus Ride

The Bus Ride

A Poem by Rachel

Staring out the window, I see people walk past
In shorts, sandals, dresses and sunglasses,
"Where are they going? I wonder
They all looks so self assured and confident
They're on a path and every step they take is firm and assertive
Each step they take is a promise

I often wonder what people think of me
When they see me waking down the bust sidewalks of town
Do I fool them, like they fool me?
Into seeming like I have my life together
As I wander in and out of coffee shops
Which in itself is fooling them because I don't even like coffee

Having my life together, what does that feel like?
What does it look like?
I think I'll know when I have my life together
When I'm happy and that'll be when everything is balanced and in harmony
