"Lost & Found"

"Lost & Found"

A Poem by leenanicole

I thought writing was a thing of the past for me

the desire for it was finished

and the more I tried to pick up the pen

the more the passion started to diminish

I had nothing to say, had nothing profound

nothing to inspire me to bring me back round

but … then it hit me

it's okay to write empty … as long as you write

what I think, what I say, what I feel, what I do

doesn't always need a deeper meaning

had to stop thinking I needed to appeal to the masses

… when it matters only what I'm feeling

how could I abandon something that was my saving grace ?

thought it was a lost art, now we meet again face to face

to start a journey anew... with an old friend

so here's to picking back up the pen

cheers, let the writing begin ...

The need to write a masterpiece every time is the writer's bane. As is indicated here, the most important thing is to keep on writing, even if Shakespearean beauty doesn't spring forth. Good advice.
