An Ice Cream StoryA Poem by Apple Green SpriteYou are the secret that I keep
there was a hole in my heart, I weep
You are a bandage who mended
an intimacy that was wasted
You are an icing in a cake
licked with a spoon I made
You are a pillow that absorbs
the pain and bile that I wore.
Now I deeply understand
Why my former lovers were gone
Maybe you're an ice cream, I'm the cone
At least, for some reason, I'm not alone
But why are you here, I ask,
if this is a thing that do not last?
I am afraid to let you go
But ours is against their law
I'm fixing my poor soul with my might
getting ready, preparing to fly
But you're still a secret that I keep
I have an ached heart that's relieved
