Checkmate

Checkmate

A Poem by Leah Mayes

a tragic dispute

on a checkered plane

as a transient opponent

lands across the terrain

refrain...

from your offense

I'm skilled my friend

insane turbulation

will lead to your end

defend...

an inexorable

pursuit

that challenges duty

to a moral institute

resolute...

the verdict

decreases the magistrate

extricating an army

conceiving your fate

insinuate...

merciless regicide

burning defenses

with pretenses

and nowhere to hide

confide...

within you

a secret indulgence

your cadaverous widow

receives little condolence

relentless...

should not be

an option here

for contrasting insipid

illusions of fear

as the Queen draws near...

I like it.
The chess table is a good ambient, to illustrate great skills and strategy :). The menacing character, of this is so very kool.
