Blank Faces

Blank Faces

A Poem by Leah Elisabeth

I’m dreaming of blank faces
Of falling in love
I see those empty spaces
Fill me.

I don’t know who you are
Or who I want you to be
I see you in my dreams,
I hear you calling my name,
Feel you holding my hand
But you’re nameless, faceless

All I have is my desire,
For a hand in mine,
For someone to inspire
My song

I hold onto you
You vanish like mist from my arms
I’m alone when I wake
Come find me
Come sing with me
We’ll write our own duet

Is it simply that I’m blind
And you’re already here
Tell me will I ever find
My heart

Being filled with empty spaces. This is vulnerable, sad. I'm not really a good critic of poetry. The only thing that I can think of to make it better is not construction or word choice -- it's the direction of the heart.

I am a young woman who keenly enjoys the beauty of a well-turned phrase. I believe that life without the spoken or the written word would be very empty indeed. My life is filled with song and story .. more..
