The Sky

The Sky

A Poem by Leah Elisabeth

The sky is close tonight.
The clouds sweep the top of the hills
oppressing them with their gloominess.
One cowers beneath.

The sky is meant to be infinite.
Never to be fully reached,
though you reach from inside yourself,
from the very depths of your soul.

The night sky is deep
The stars cannot be caught
and held like fireflies.

There are many dark and dreamless secrets
hidden with the depths of man's soul
Always reach for what you cannot attain.
Search the depths of the sky to gain
a picture of the heart of God.
Reaching out, catch his hand.
Gain a small measure
of what he holds,
and go still deeper.

While reading I was fascinated by the depth and illumination of a great philosophy that are existent in the poem. I am sure, you think a lot.

The sky, sometimes I also think, is big and edgeless. What happens next is my childhood idea. Is there any other land? Likewise, human mind-of man and woman-is like Sky. It is faster than anything in the world. It is deeper like Sky. It accumulates all the pains, happiness, wisdom, love, and hate. Still it has empty place to womb more things. That is this is called Mind and Soul like Sky.

"The sky is meant to be infinite.
Never to be fully reached,
though you reach from inside yourself,
from the very depths of your soul." I like this potion very much.

Thank you especially for such a novel write. Just for your poem I can nurture my thoughts.

Thank you.

Raja.

I love this stanza. It describes the vast expanse of the sky, and I love the way you have compared it to one's own soul. Good work!! It's a very insightful and thought provoking poem!

Gain a small measure
of what he holds,
and go still deeper.

Love those last lines. I loved all of it, but those lines stand out. yes, the imagery here does indeed paint a picture...to hold that which cannot be held. Wonderful!
