You ruined me

I believed in you and in the lies you told

You said you were harmless, a lie so bold

I thought you’d be different, that you’d guard my heart

Now that you’ve ruined me, I’m glad we’re apart

You ruined me

I’m hurting and for release, I’m pleading

There is seemingly no cure for my heart bleeding

I may not live to see tomorrow

You were the one that brought me sorrow

You ruined me

With your sweet words and poison kiss

The lies you weave, I’ll not miss

You damaged a good woman playing your game

And despite what you think, I won’t take this pain

You ruined me,

And I plan on returning the favor

Please note that I am not the narrator in the poem. This was written to fulfill a request by a friend of mine who was hurt by an abhorrent boyfriend.

Revenge is a waste of thought and energy, but sometimes getting even works. Where one love dies another will grow if given time. Put the pain away and find your happy place and new love.

Wow! A woman scorned...
I doubt you are "ruined". Maybe. You are certainly very strong and empowered. I'm sure it feels true at times. However, the last line tells me you might be close to having been lowered to his level.
Revenge may prove the most tragic fate.
This will make many cheer. I cringe. It is painful to read. Still, it is important to read pain and realize the consequences of actions.
An honest and worthwhile write.
