The Dancer

The Dancer

A Poem by Imperfection2aT

A fake smile plastered on her face
She holds the pose in her place
Never moving from her spot
The little dancer the whole world forgot

Standing high on a stone
The dancer waits all alone
Knowing no one will show
To see a dancer in the snow

Through the elements she keeps vigil
Though the dancer is small and little
Guarding the bones of a dancer like she
A little stone dancer is all she'll be

Oh my gosh! This is very beautiful. I always like poems and stories from objects or anything that is not humans, since we are writers and sometimes we claim to speak for those who can't, that's why I love this, not everybody tells the story of a grave marker. Great job!

I really enjoyed this AABB pattern more than I usually do. It was a strong piece from the beginning. "A fake smile plastered on her face." This line immediately hit me in a very cool way.

Well done!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this piece.
A perfect description of the dance. A dancer can steal the visions and thoughts of the observer. Sometime beautiful things can suffer too. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome.
What a beautifully haunting write, carrying us across the stones that only ever hint at worlds once dancing and light. You breathe this out so tenderly, so deeply, and I can see even stone beginning to breathe in your letters.

Thank you for the beautiful words!
Am I to understand that the dancer is a grave marker for a child (dancer)?
I find the poem very well written as it made me think to discover exactly
what your poem was saying.
Your poem does not shout out what it is about and that makes it doubly
more enjoyable a read

Yes, the little stone dancer is, in fact, a grave marker.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
