Swine to the Slaughter

Swine to the Slaughter

A Poem by Lea525

They gorged,
Freely at first,

a stuffing of throats with oily lard and tinctures of burning liquids to make
them forget.

They drank,
Barley at first,

with unleavened bread and bodies of white, fresh pressed,
soaked in red

They laughed,
Crudely at first,

for their sins saved their graces
yet their pious young faces
gave way to a gospel of truth

That all they were was swine to be slaughtered.
