What do you remember, Death

What do you remember, Death

A Poem by Lauren

What do you remember, Death,
Of those war torn souls,
That passed so quickly in your eyes
As if new days were old.

What do you remember, Death,
When darkness was your light,
The dead followed you like sons and daughters,
and you had no air of plight.

What do you remember, Death,
When leaves would crumble,
Down at your drapes,
And upon your name would stumble.

What do you remember, Death,
As your mind wanders so far back,
To such days when souls would listen,
While they followed you through the black.

Please tell me death, what do you remember,
Of those passed on days,
When I walked free, and alive,
And my eyes were always hazed.

Good questions... sometime in the future each one of us will be asking them directly to the Grim Reaper himself! Sobering thoughts, but we are all heading in the same diriction! A poem to ponder!
