I Wish

"A devastating morning", all I could say. It was 6 in the morning. I woke up and reached for my phone as usual. There were some Facebook notifications but 5 missed calls from a friend and a text he left behind got me curious. "Hey, it’s a bad news, Arpan passed away this morning", that’s what I saw in the message. I was clueless, with the whole world falling apart, I was devastated.  This friend who was so close and only a day after meeting him, he is now no more with us. My heart grew heavier, I could see his face and a quick flashback of every beautiful moment we shared and that held me down. I got up, wore my jeans and ran towards the road. With no thoughts at all, I hired a taxi and headed towards Arjun's house. Meanwhile, I called back my friend and asked what actually had happened. 

I replied "Suicide !!, How? Why?" After hearing what he said. A week before Arjun had a fight with his partner as usual. Like always we were mocking him. But this time it was something different. He didn’t react at all, had no expression at all. Maybe it was something else that was bothering him. Maybe some family problems. Or maybe it was something related to things he used to tell every now and then. Going through a lot of pressure from his parents and girlfriend about being serious in life, taking responsibilities was killing him. "Maybe" that was all I could think. 

The taxi dropped me near Arjun's place. I started to run through a small alley that led to his home. Rushed as fast as I could, getting my shoulders bruised through the walls. I pushed the old iron gate at the entrance. There were some people and the friend who called me walks towards me. All the people staring at me, maybe because I was really close to Arjun. I got a bit nervous, swiped my phone and started opening apps as if I was doing something. Wait, "April fool", that was all over my news feed. 

Once again, I was clueless. Is it a prank? I asked myself. Then I asked my friend, "Is it an April fool's prank?" Hoping it was. He replied, "I WISH".
