A Star

A Star

A Poem by Lacy Dawn
"

A journey.

"
A Sparkle was set in my eye,
The twinkle from the stars in the sky,
I wondered how far away was that star,
The smallest star above all,
I was set on a quest,
It was about to be cold,

I reached for the Moon and started to float,
I closed my eyes and felt the cool wind,
It felt like waves splashing and I was on a rocking boat,
I saw the Moon so close,

I touched it and sat on top of the Moon and there goes the gravity,
The gravity is gone and no air is here,
But I felt nothing to fear,
For that star that was smaller than all,
Was only a few feet away and here comes a tear,
That star was the star my mother earned,
Before she was gone and there floats my tear,
I swam straight towards that star she earned,
I was so close to it I touched it then heard a cheer,

I opened my eyes and got out of the pool,
I looked to my dad in the stands,
He was smiling,
The girls on my swim team gave me a hug,
I went to my dad ignoring all the comments that were flattering,
I saw something in him that something was..,
He was proud and if my mother was here,
She would be proud of me too.
