As I sat there...

As I sat there...

A Poem by Lacy Dawn

As I sat there, Watching her sleep a sleep that would never end.
I loved her so much, I wish she didn't leave so early.
I patted her head as I sat there crying.

As I sat there, I thought about the neighbor.
I can't believe he would even hurt a hair on her head.
She was so sweet to him, she even made him peanut butter cookies.

As I sat there, I imagined what she might have done.
Maybe she would have grown up to be a doctor.
Maybe she would be a actress that everyone would adore!

As I sat there, I laid flowers on her grave.
The little seven year old name Destiny, she had so many dreams she could not achieve.
When she played with her puppy, and her little dolls she had a smile so wide and free
that nobody could destroy.

As I got up and walked away, I felt something touch my hand.
There was the little girl Destiny's spirit next to me.
We walked down the path holding hands, we smiled as we flew into the sky.

Enticing! Nice work. Kinda got my blood boiling a bit when I saw the part about the neighbor. Perhaps it's me medieval of me but all child abusers should be hung. Just sayin. For that purpose that execution still needs to be around.
