People come, People go,A Poem by Pretty_as_a_PoetA tale of everyone who's touched my life and the mark they made.People come and People go, sever pieces of me Some scars you can and some you cannot see I always laugh behind my mask the second that they leave But every fibre underneath is begging “stay with me” The burns and bruises blood and tears the memories etched in me Reminding me of yesterday, of things that shouldn't be, Of things, I try to say happened only in bad dreams Of moments that suck me back into the same epiphany That everything that scarred me made me into who I am, That from the ash of volcanos past, God breathes life into the land. That no one grows from perfect moments in our history And victories are meaningless if there are no casualties If there's nothing to remember, what’s the point of breathing, Even if the moments of the cuts are aching, seething, Deep in my heart, I know that this is how things must be, People come and people go, sever pieces of me, The triumphs in the foreground, bring me to reality, The moments where I scream out to the world to look at me, The moments where I’m everything I ever could have been, The happy Days where darkness seeps deep back into the seams, Patch me up, look I’m shining like the sun through trees, And sometimes there are moments where I do not think of these To overcome and know I’ve gone farther than I’d thought to be, People come and people go, but memories never leave, © 2018 Pretty_as_a_PoetFeatured Review
