To Become a PearlA Poem by Pretty_as_a_PoetMy path to success
I wanted to shine, to be seen within
the crowds
So I began to dream, I had my head
up in the clouds,
I was just a grain of sand, out of
trillions on the beach,
For a while, I was nobody, my dreams
were out of reach,
They said I shouldn’t even try, but
I did it anyway,
They said I couldn’t sculpt my
legacy out of shards of broken clay,
As years went by, I worked until my
talent elevated,
I rose higher in stature, and I
became appreciated,
Then, with my potential realized, I
was told that I’d go far,
I pushed and pushed and pushed
myself until I became a star
But when I became a star, there were
too many in the sky,
So I couldn’t have been spotted with
the mortal naked eye,
They couldn’t quench the
passion that was burning in my soul,
I built myself a mountain, though I
was born inside a hole,
I took another gander and I gave it
one last shot,
To finally show the world just
exactly what I’ve got
The world threw at me lemons, and I
gave it lemonade,
All in hope that I could one day
bask in all I’ve made,
I was just a grain of sand, an
ordinary girl,
I guess they didn’t figure out that I’d become a
pearl,
