The Daily World

The Daily World

A Story by Emmy
"

This is the plot I've been working on for a new book. London in turmoil, political intrigue...and an omipresent tabloid called The Daily World.

"
“It is a night of deep sorrow for myself and for the crown.”

The night of June 30th, 2011 will live on as the night the government of the United Kingdom officially shut down. After months of unsuccessful negotiation the Conservative and Labor Parties were unable to produce a fiscal budget. As of midnight, no budget meant no money technically existed in the coffers of the government. Without money, the government can't operate and so legally they were forced to shut down.

-------------------------------------------------

Twelve days later, London is virtually a new town. Tourists still crowd the streets, and most universities remain operational, but without a government London is basically run by the Daily World. A tabloid once known for its ridiculous fictional cover stories, the Daily World is now a veritable encyclopedia, full of scandal and intrigue. Desperate citizens have turned to the magazine, offering their services and their intel to make a few quid.

The Daily World can make or break you. In a world of cut-throat politics and back-door deals, where do you stand?
