ALEKSANDRIVANKLOBCHAN

To sacrifice oneself never made sense to me
Cause life is really the only and last gift we've all received

    FULLNAME| Aleksandr Ivan Klobchan
    BIRTHDAY| July 12th, 1988
    IAMTHISYOUNG| 23 years old
    PINKORBLUE| Male, of course.
OCCUPATION| Curator at the Jericho Museum of Fine Arts
    SEXUALORIENTATION| Straight
    LOOKSLIKE| Jamie Bell
    HAIRCOLOR| Sandy blonde
EYECOLOR| Grey with a tinge of blue
    HOWIAMBUILT| Long, lean, athletic
    THISHEIGHT| 182 lbs
    THATWEIGHT| 6'5"
TATTOOS| None yet, he's still on the fence
    PIERCINGS| None
OVERALLLOOKS| Standing at 6’5” puts Aleks above the United States national average, but doesn’t make him the tallest man. His height can be a bit of an issue when it comes to door frames and automobiles, but it also makes him easy to spot in a crowd. Aleks has always been on the thinner side yet he’s never been cursed with lankiness. Active from a young age, Aleks has always been athletic in his build, lean runner’s muscles making up for what he lacks in weight. Long legs and average-sized shoulders only add to the runner’s physique. Across his body is stretched ivory white skin, complimented in places by dirty blonde hair.
Atop his body sits his head. A fine, pointed jaw compliments his high cheek bones and pointed nose. Below the nose a straight, thin mouth curves slightly into a smile. Blue-grey eyes sit deep and close under thick, straight blonde brows. His forehead is short, ending in a straight line of hair.
Aleks’s dirty blonde hair is kept longer to hide his large, prominent ears. A slight natural curl helps make his thick shag of hair look all the messier. He likes to keep his hair messy to off-set his otherwise put together persona.
Normally one will find Aleks in a polo or a tee topped by a jacket or occasionally a hooded sweatshirt. To complete his “casual apparel” Aleks dons jeans of darker washes, typically boot cut or slim cut. Aleks has always found tennis shoes uncomfortable however, so he always looks a little dressy in his leather shoes.
While at work Aleks wears a sports jacket, if not a suit. He doesn’t have an extensive wardrobe, but he takes enough pride in his appearance to put in a little more effort than just throwing on the first things he sees.

    ILOVETHIS|
    1. Peach Cobbler: “I have never had anything like it before! Peach cobbler is the perfect dessert.”
    2. Sporting Events: “I love sports but I don’t have a lot of time to play them. I love going to watch the games " especially American football. I watch the super bowl every year.”
    3. Art: “I work at an art museum, showing art all day. If I didn’t love art…I would be driven mad.”
    4. Independence: “There is nothing better than to be free in everything I do.”
    5. Dogs: “I am a dog person. I don’t understand cats as pets. They poop in a box and scratch you. You never have this problem with dogs.”
    6. Running, Hiking, Swimming: “Why do I love this? Why do you love to breathe?”
    7. Travelling: “When I was younger I used to travel a lot with family or friends. My goal is to see every continent, except Antarctica.”
    8. Drawing: “I like to think I’m artistically inclined.”
    9. Concerts: “It doesn’t matter what kind. I don’t like to listen to Opera or Hip Hop but I’ve been to both types of concerts and really enjoyed it.”
    10. Movies: “When I have a free moment I watch a movie. I’m addicted to them.”
    IHATETHIS|
    1. Hospitals: “They smell like death and ammonia.”
    2. Winter: “It gets so cold you dread going outside. I like to be outside, therefore I hate winter.”
    3. Pigeons: “As a young boy I was attacked by Pigeons. To me they are disease-infested rats with wings.”
    4. Jagermeister: “I don’t know what they make it out of but to me it tastes like…I don’t want to drink anymore.”
    5. Juilliard: “It was a good enough school, but I disliked the people there. They were too snooty for me.”
    6. Shaving: “Maybe I should just grow a beard.”
    7. Accents: “Sometimes it is hard for me to understand others, and it is hard for them to understand me. I hate having to ask people to repeat themselves and being asked to repeat myself.
    8. Roller derby: “It’s a bunch of girls skating in circles trying to knock each other down. To me, this is not a sport. Plus, they wear too little clothing to be so violent.”
    9. Mittens: “Yes, they’re warmer than gloves but they limit my mobility. It doesn’t help they make me feel like a lobster.”
    MYSTRENGHTS| Intelligent, capable, calm, personable
    MYWEAKNESSES| Proud, manipulative, appearance-oriented
    QUIRKS&HABITS| goes here
    OVERALLPERSONALITY|
The first word that comes to mind when thinking about Aleks is clean-cut. Aleks prides himself on being put-together, at least appearance-wise. He wears his clothes and his hair just so, being perhaps a little vain. He isn’t effeminate or metrosexual, but Aleks just doesn’t feel comfortable if he doesn’t feel he’s looking his best. Aleks is very appearance-oriented; the sort of man who finds pleasure in beautiful things. In this way he takes after his dad, being in his own way a “collector of beautiful people”.

Fortunately much of Aleks’s rigidness is contained to his appearance. He is in truth quite personable. He loves being around others, and he likes to believe others like being around him. Aleks tends to become depressed when he goes extended periods by himself, so it’s important to him to be out and socializing.

Aleks is charismatic. He has a certain charm about him which, when used for good, can make him an entertaining companion. He seems perfectly at home in front of a crowd, and fancies himself a leader. In small groups he keeps the conversation going, and can help inspire action. When used for evil, Aleks comes across as manipulative. He’ll convince you to do something and make you believe it was your idea. This isn’t a universal trait as Aleks has encountered a considerable number of people who can easily resist his charms. The success rate though is decent"at least it carried him through adolescence.
Intelligence also carried Aleks through adolescence. He excelled in traditional schooling, all the time complaining how the system was flawed. With his intelligence comes a driving curiosity. If art history hadn’t worked out, Aleks would have gone for anthropology. He loves learning about people and their cultures even if it’s just the culture of a group of friends. Always willing to try new things, Aleks will accept any invitation willingly. He’s still getting used to American culture and gets excited about anything he considers “quintessentially American”, such as the town of Jericho.

The most prevailing trait Aleks possesses is pride. He sees things as one way and will work to make them so. He’s proud of his heritage: embraces who he was along with who he is. This pride makes him stubborn, never wanting to admit he’s wrong. If someone says the wrong thing to him, it takes Aleks a long time to get over it.

    HOMETOWN| Moscow
    PARENTSI| Dmitri and Kaitlyn Klobchan
    SIBLINGS| Mina Klobchan
    IHAVEPETS| goes here.
OVERALLHISTORY| To properly discuss Aleks’ beginnings, one must start at the true beginning, the point in time in which Aleks became a possibility.
Kaitlyn Prusinska was a citizen of Scotland, born in Edinburgh to Russian and Scottish parents. Why choose one cold, dark country for another? Well you see, Kaitlyn’s mother was an artist who upon travelling to Scotland absolutely fell in love with it. The family packed up and moved that same month. Kaitlyn was born shortly thereafter. She never quite forgave her parents for “robbing” her of the childhood she was “destined” to have in Russia. Thus, when she was nineteen Kaitlyn and her friends spent a summer in Moscow.
This is how Kaitlyn came to be a tourist, gawking wide-eyed in St. Peter’s Square the day she met Dmitri Klobchan. Dmitri, an investment banker a full decade older than his future wife, was practicing one of his favorite hobbies: people-watching/photo-taking in St. Peter’s Square. Dmitri was a self-titled “collector of beautiful people”. Kaitlyn, upon realizing her photo had just been snapped, angrily confronted the offender.
Dmitri and Kaitlyn were married only three weeks into knowing each other, at the end of August. The month is significant because without the wedding, it would have been Kaitlyn’s last in Russia. The next year, Aleksandr was born. His birth was a normal affair, no complications. Aside from Kaitlyn’s frequent complaints about her new size and cravings the pregnancy was easy, uncomplicated. Aleks came into the world the traditional way"head first and screaming. Even then Aleks was a big boy.
To understand Kaitlyn and Dmitri’s parenting style, one must first understand them as people. Kaitlyn was haughty and proud, the epidemy of the cold Russian. She had an idea of herself as perfect, and she expected her family to follow her lead. Dmitri was distant and vain, a man apparently chiseled out of stone. They were exceptionally loving and kind as long and people met their expectations and kept at least a façade of perfection. If the mask were to slip…a better fate would have been exile.
Aleks never had to worry about parental approval. He was tall, handsome and excelled at many things. His mother loved him because he gave her things to brag about (awards, achievements, etc) and his father loved him because he was “beautiful”. His sister Mina on the other hand…
Mina was the one always getting in trouble, always rebelling. Aleks loved his sister, but he didn’t understand why she felt the need to cause trouble. He could sympathize with Mina's feelings of suffocation, living constantly under authoritarian dictators who cared for little other than what society might think. Aleks always found that if he played by the rules (ie giving his parents plenty to brag about) he was allowed to do pretty much as he wished. He was often gone for weekends at a time while Mina wasn't allowed to be out past 10:00 on the weekends.
The lavish lifestyle his parents lived allowed Aleks the chance to study art history at Juilliard in New York City. Aleks had inherited his flair for art from his grandmother, but lacked his mothers attachment to the “mother country”. He began his first semester at Juilliard at the age of eighteen and graduated shortly before his 23rd birthday.
Juilliard wasn’t exactly Aleks’s cup of tea. Sure, he had always been good at school and succeeded in like manor at university, but Aleks felt suffocated. He was used to living in the stifling environment of his parents’ home, but he felt himself so close to freedom now…even the moderate constraints of art school felt unbearable to him. He had his first taste of freedom living away from home, and there was no way he was going back.
Instead of returning home after graduation Aleks began job hunting along the east coast. This is how Aleks found himself in Jericho. Perhaps it’s rude to say Jericho Museum of Fine Art was the best job offer Aleks received, but it’s the truth. Plus, Georgia is about as far away as Aleks can get from Moscow.

    YOURNAMEIS| they call me marie
IAMTHISYOUNG| 18 years, freshman in college
GOTEXPERIENCE| I've been role playing on and off for about eight years. By on and off I mean there have been periods of almost a year where I wasn't active on a single forum. I got my start on Gaia, but as I matured a role player I moved to IF boards.
    SAMPLEROLEPLAY|

    Quote:
The door opened reluctantly, swinging on frozen hinges. Cold air hit Austin like a slap to the face. He’d known it was cold but nothing could prepare him for the subarctic temperatures. It was a test of bravery leaving a building. If the base temperature of -5 degrees Fahrenheit didn’t get you, the wind chill of -25 degrees would.
Shrinking back into his parka-esque jacket Austin stepped out into the blowing snow. It had stopped snowing about 2 hours ago. Now the fine dust was blowing about, whipping the hands and face like a shards of glass.
The walk, er jog, to the car was a short but miserable one. Austin fumbled with the keys to his ’94 Chevy Lumina, finally succeeding in opening the door to the crushed polyester warmth of the interior. They key turned in the ignition, generating a grumbling sound then nothing. “C’mon baby…” his whisper was fervent, prayerful. A second turn of the key along with a revving of the engine did the trick. The beast roared to life. “Thank you!” Austin felt bad for the car. He’d be doing poorly if he’d been out in this all night.
The drive was terrible. Slick roads along with slow traffic left Austin stuck behind the 8:30 train. Various curses escaped his lips as he bumped up the volume on his Skrillex tape. His car has not but a tape deck, so if he wanted to listen to good music he had to transfer it to tape. It was an expensive habit, and soon Austin would have to give up and splurge on a CD player. For now, dubstep was helping Austin relax.
The stereo clock read 9:26 as Austin pulled into a parking spot behind the building. “You’re late!” Audrey, the shift supervisor, called from the back.
“Sorry! My car wouldn’t start.” It wasn’t a total lie, but Austin didn’t have time just then for the truth. He slipped on his apron, clipped the transmitter to his belt, and slipped the headset over his ears.
“Welcome to Starbucks. My name is Austin. What can I make for you today?” It was going to be a long day.
