In My HeadA Poem by Leon A. WalkerA poem about learning life's lessons and gaining wisdom and maturity.Still I find myself remembering With incredible clarity the needlessness of my wrongs There were quests for love so long misunderstood Accompanied by lust, greed, and aspirations of imprudence Life was not a voyage to a nourishing consign But only the wanton pillaging of endless empty days The lessons of living might have been welcome protectors Had only I been compelled to hear their admonitions And even when slowed by a cautious pause I recall the chilling warnings ignored The gods might have spared me the floggings of life Whisked me to the safety of hiatus’ castle Had I only heeded the insidious whispers Of that little voice in my head
