In My Head

In My Head

A Poem by Leon A. Walker
"

A poem about learning life's lessons and gaining wisdom and maturity.

"

Still I find myself remembering

With incredible clarity the needlessness of my wrongs

There were quests for love so long misunderstood

Accompanied by lust, greed, and aspirations of imprudence

Life was not a voyage to a nourishing consign

But only the wanton pillaging of endless empty days

The lessons of living might have been welcome protectors

Had only I been compelled to hear their admonitions

And even when slowed by a cautious pause

I recall the chilling warnings ignored

The gods might have spared me the floggings of life

Whisked me to the safety of hiatus’ castle

Had I only heeded the insidious whispers

Of that little voice in my head

I am in love with your use of excellent vocabulary words. So wonderful! This poem is very gripping. Nicely done.

Live and learn. If only we all "heeded the insidious whispers" and "chilling warnings," life would be simpler, kinder. But then again, we would be none the wiser...Absolutely love this piece.
