Reminisce

Reminisce

A Poem by Rose Kim

Growing up you used to think
the world was small.
As tiny as the spaces between
your fingers as you crawled,
and even the roads where
you learnt to run your kite on.

Now everything is suddenly
bigger and far away.
Your work becomes your life
until you are old and grey.
You missed the slow days
and dancing in the rain.
You wished you can go back
and live that life all over again.

I will be honest . . . I read that you are a student, so I figured you are young (compared to me, at 63) so I was wondering how this poem would go, since it starts out as if spoken by a person much older than you. Sometimes young people miss the mark, when imagining how it is thru an old person's eyes. But I'm happy to say this poem is spot-on, as far as capturing the way it feels. You use vivid detailed examples to show instead of tell. Nice rhyming that doesn't take away from your strong message (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
