I'll Paint My Lips BlackA Poem by lavenderlaces
I’ll paint my lips black,
And cover my heart in gold. I won’t take it back, I’ll do as you have told. I’ll remember What you said Carry out the deed, Without dread. Your hate is my hate, Fueled by it I am It is our fate I will kill the man. (I know that all the while It’s a new beginning, a new chapter I’ll recall the smiles, The running, the laughter Your innocent beguiles You say we’ll have a Happy ever after. I’ll do it for you And me Too.) Your fire is my fire, I will burn for The flame. Your incandescent desire, If you must be tame. Fast pace. Open veins. Dripping blood, Striking pain. Hears a thud. Stone face. (A Stone face. Kind of cold Similar to Someone I… know?) Didn’t do it, I say, Couldn’t prove it, I wage. Looking down, I wane. Couldn’t you have done it? Why me, why me? Did it so have to be? I’ll paint my lips black, I’ll paint my heart that color Too, Can I not take it back? Oh, what did I do for you? You, who? Yes. The you are forgotten lore. The you I knew before. I felt something different I didn’t fully realize… Cold. It isn’t, no, not you. Become. Have you Become? But…but is it… Is it just you Or is that feeling Growing in me… Too? I am truly Tainted. My soul forever Painted. With a color so dark The black does not Leave a mark. © 2013 lavenderlacesAuthor's Note
