Chapter 9

     The next day, I was met with an unexpected surprise, but whether it was a good or bad surprise, I couldn't tell. 

     "I didn't know Mandy got a new car," my mom muttered. "A super expensive one too..."

     I looked at her quizzically. "What are you talking about?" I looked out the window and gasped. Mandy was leaning across the hood of a brand new Audi R8.

    I was out the door before my mom could realize what was happening. I ran over to Mandy and started squealing. "Since when do you have an Audi R8?" 

     "I don't," she grinned. 

     I looked at her again. "What?" 

     I was answered when I heard a knocking sound on the window. Taylor was inside the vehicle, grinning from ear to ear. 

     So Mandy didn't have the Audi. Since she and Taylor were dating, of course Taylor would pick her up for school. I would join them, and have to put up with their lovey-doveyness....Fun. 

     "Hey Vanessa," Taylor smiled at me, and I drank in the happiness of his smile. It was like sunshine to my mood, but he was taken, and soon my mood became dark again. 

     "Hi," I mumbled. I climbed into the backseat and stared at the window, not daring look ahead in case I saw them getting all cozy and such. 

     "Mandy, you look really beautiful today, if you're going to look this beautiful then you're going to make me die at the date," Taylor murmured to her, taking her hand. 

     I began to grow jealous despite myself. I knew that I shouldn't, because Mandy was my best friend, and she was in a happy relationship with Taylor, I shouldn't break them apart by being jealous, no matter how I wanted to be with Taylor. 

     I ignored Mandy's teasing remarks and laughs in the front seat the best I could. I had forgotten my ipod at home, and cursed myself over and over again for forgetting it. I pursed my lips and looked out the window, seeing nothing. 

     Finally, after 20 minutes, Mandy looked back at me. "Hey, are you okay back there?" 

     "Yeah, just fine..." I muttered. 

     "Okay, whatever you say..." she turned back to Taylor, going gaga over him. That was exactly what I need right now, more lovey-doveyness. 

     As soon as we reached the school, I practically ran out. I felt a bump in my side pocket as I ran and realized that my ipod was with me the whole time. I put my song list on shuffle, trying to escape to the world of music and away from any thoughts of Taylor or Mandy. I found the perfect song for my mood right now: Jealous by Jasmine V. 

     I don't want to be nag-naggin, don't want to be drag-draggin you down, don't want to be pull-pushin, look what I'm doin now, so I'm the girl, the jealous girl, J E A L O U S, boy, I don't know how you got me actin like this.
