Run

Run

A Poem by Lau Thiam Kok

I wonder
if there is an express
which I can get on
to travel me
to a journey of life
where there is no horizon
where I can run and run.

I wonder
if there is a night
where I can run to and live on
which never lets me down
where there are the moon and the constellations
to deliver me
to a river of dreams
where it never will be awakened by daybreak.

And I wonder
is there a place
where there is a life I will run into
let me rest
and no matter where it will take me
if you ask me,
"Will you go with me?"
I'll say,
"Yes I will!
Yes I will!"

Another beautiful poem my new friend. You really have a great flair for poetry. Thank you too for reading mine although most of my writing consists of short stories. I am trying out some new poetry very soon and hope they are a fraction of yours. smiles. xxx

At first it felt like it ended too soon, but reading it again I felt differently. I guess I just wanted to keep reading! :)

Oh, I would love to live an adventure like this, free of weary worrying, unchained, being able to pick up and go anywhere with anyone at anytime. Such a jovial, playful tone. And I really love that last line. It wouldn't have been nearly the same had you not repeated it--that really did make it pop, like Nay said.

The night is so oft associated with sin and darkness, but the night can be so pure! I picture myself running through a meadow on a moonlit night, smiling and singing, when I read that second stanza. Thank you for writing this! The moon is just now waning tonight--I might just have to go play in it.

It goes from wistful to energetic, the ending really pops. I liked this quite a bit. :)
