What I'm Asking For

What I'm Asking For

A Poem by Lauren

So many thoughts, confined in my head
contorted and jumbled, for only me to see
and as the night descends,
they begin to weigh on me
Please take me away, take this all away

because without you there's little escape
I need relief from this new mess we've made
A simple smile, a fragile kiss
It's the cure of a lifetime, a distracting abyss

'Cause you give me new hope for tomorrow
the strength I didn't think I'd need for each day
So, one more break; do I care? Bring the sorrow.
It's not like I mind, since it's always this way.

Now, with a new day I'm beginning to ponder
why I stay up just wanting and hoping for more,

Could I maybe be less than what I'm asking for?
