Blind World

Blind World

A Poem by Lauren

I'm losing it

that thing that always made me weird

but special.

You say that's just life,

that's just growing up.

But who wants to live

in that world?

I feel my soul being muted

a little more each day,

as the minutes tick by and

I miss opportunities

through a meaningless

computer screen.

You want me to conform,

to validate the misery

we all feel

and chase around "

some ghostly destination

leading us to the promised land

60 years down the road.

I begin to slowly cry,

filling the sorrow of

1000 lives around me,

and then the crying grows louder,

and I'm drowning out your voice.

You see, I'm meant for more.

We're all here

and we're meant for more.

And you've only got one shot,

one cycle that's guaranteed for sure.

It's time to walk up!

We're far less important

than we think

yet our potential

is more than most will ever know.

I don't believe in fairytales,

or leading blindly from a book.

I'll create my paradise right here,

imperfect as it is,

uncertain as it is.

Beautiful as it can be.

Will you join me?

The good news- you have the awareness that your identity, your specialness is slipping way. The good/bad news- its up to you to keep it and find your consiousness within, which is on on-going process. I love the ending!!
