My Old Shirt

My Old Shirt

A Poem by Larry Dyson
"

for a writing contest.

"

An old flannel shirt resembles me in everyway...

it looks and feels it's age ...along with the wrinkles..

and the worn spots on the elbows and along the tails.

What colors will it be?

Will it have buttons or snaps?

Does the collar have stays or does it button down?

Do I resemble my shirt or ...

does it mimic Me and all my ecentricities

We make the clothes so they say but our clothes do become us at the same time. I never looked at one of my shirts in this way but I guess I do have my favorites that really have become a part of who I am as much as I am apart of them. Interesting writes and comparisons I find in all your writes. Well done

Outstanding! This reflection runs deep. Some say that the clothes make the man and on some small scale, perhaps they do but I choose to disagree. My old shirt resembles me. The thin spots, stains and wrinkles attest to my life's endeavors.
