Winter Come and Gone

Winter Come and Gone

A Poem by Larry Dyson

Come and Gone She has...

howling blizzard winds die down to be ..

Replaced by gusting warmer storms ..

Flying leaves as natures kites.

Ahh.. March is here and the rains will come and go..

bringing the yellow overcoats of promises of ..

Newer growths..

Flowers to don their bonnets of color.

What glorious appeasement, like a ray of sun caressing my cheek this late afternoon.

“Flying leaves as nature’s kites”

This was an evocative little gem of an image; I could see the spring winds running with the leaves like children at play. It almost reminds me of that scene from Fiddler on the roof were Tevye sings the song “little bird” as his daughters dance away.

'Flowers to don their bonnets of color' - lovely, lovely! This time of year is a wonderful renaissance for nature, for human beings .. everything seems brighter, better - or it can be if we sit up and notice. Even the birds sing louder! Just read your poem again .. 'Flying kites as natures kites. YES!

A rebirth of a new season in a new years offers a new beginning for life. A brilliant piece capturing what it is to dance from the wintery road, to a rain washed cleansing into the rebirth of Life.

Matthew

Joy! The hope and freshness of spring. This, to me, is classic... a beautiful piece.

I love the descriptions in this poem. Spring a time for new growth and not just in nature but in people as well. A time for renewal has begun.

I love the last line of your poem. There seems to be an inevitability to it.
