We wage war and maintain boundaries and hold a neutral stance because peace looks a hell of a lot like something that requires a lifetime of hard work. Pacifism, like love, is not a "feeling" or a "mindset," it is a series of action verbs.

Today, I will forgive my trespassers. Tomorrow, I will reach out to a man in need. The day after that, I will try to make a change in my local government. These are hard, hard actions; they require time and energy and focus. All things we have done away with in our US lives, maybe?
