I cannot recall

I cannot recall

A Poem by Lauren Galina

When did I lose myself, I cannot recall.

Was I lost in a skipped heartbeat

Or

A solitary tear?

Was I expelled on a waking breath that lingered

To meet the grey,

Saturating dew of the new day?

Perhaps I lost myself long ago,

In a ring of childhood laughter

That once echoed

Amongst the dancing flowers

On a forgotten summer’s eve

Or

A melancholy sign

Given over to an afternoon,

Spent longingly

Amidst the dusty glow,

Of an empty room.

When did I lose myself, I cannot recall.
