Push

Push

A Poem by LaurenH

Lying in our bed. Staring at the ceiling. Where did it all go wrong.
It's not supposed to be this way. Always questioning, never wanting to stay.
I push, you bend. I push, you bend. I push, you bend.
Give up on me I scream! Prove me right.
Rid yourself of this damaged, broken, shell of a person. So utterly mangled.
Your love is comforting, so secure. Warm and safe like a blazing fire on a cold winter night. It wraps me up and exposes glimpses of my pathetic internal needs. No one could ever truly love such a loathesome needy creature.
I'll show you. Prove it to you. Everyone has a breaking point. Everyone leaves eventually.
Let's see how much you can take.
push. push. Push. PUSH. PUSH. PUSH!
Lying in my bed, all alone. I guess I've won my game.

Brilliant. I feel like I could relate to this in some way. I don't know if it reminds me of similar things I've written. I like the way you have used the word "push" throughout. Looking forward to reading more of your work. Thanks for sharing.
