SarahA Poem by CheyenneA true poem about a side of my friend that I'd never seen before until a few days ago.Sweet, innocent Sarah. With her pretty eyes and thick hair. A beautiful smile, a wonderful laugh. She walks to school with an extra bounce in her step.
Skip. Skip. Skip.
Her converse hit each square in the sidewalk. Her backpack sways from side to side.
Swish. Swish. Swish.
Anybody watching just thinks she’s happy for no reason in particular. They see her go with a smile. Sweet, innocent Sarah.
I also watch from a distance, thinking about a different story. The real story.
I know when she gets to that school, she’ll see that special someone.
Kiss. Kiss. Kiss.
Caresses planted on another girl’s lips. The two embrace each other.
This is the real Sarah. The other one, of the sweetest innocence, left us a long time ago.
I guess she’s just not as perfect as everyone thinks.
Sweet, innocent Sarah. Another life gone to waste. The worst part is that I couldn’t save her. © 2010 CheyenneAuthor's Note
